The War Rages!

Hey Friends,

You guys are great!  I just got the analytics for last month’s blog which showed almost 3,000 visits from 22 countries. I stand amazed.

Two weekends ago we presented the drama, Home Invasion-Sacred Storm. The reviews were great and the team did an awesome job. This past weekend we started a four-week series called Home Invasion where we looked at the devil and what he does. God is moving at FPC and it is so cool to watch. If you are not an attender at Faith Promise I encourage you to go to our Faith Promise Church website and listen to the message. There are multiple warnings in the Bible telling us to be ready and prepared for spiritual attacks. I Peter 5:8 says, ”Be of sober spirit, be on the alert, your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour…” And there are so many more.

I hope you are in the crowd that believes in spiritual warfare. So many do not believe and they are easy prey for the forces of hell. Are you ready and prepared for his schemes? Do you wear your armor? Do you think much about the war that rages?

50% of Americans surveyed say they do not believe in a literal devil, do you? He loves our disbelief because it makes his job easier.  He comes  to “steal, kill, and destroy.” That means you and me. Our homes and families are at risk and we must be aware.

What do you do to be ready? How do you prepare your kids? What do you do to protect your marriage? We are warned to be ready, alert, and to stand strong. Are you?

More this week about our enemy.

Yours to count on,

Pastor

    what do I do?

I have tried several things…but here are a few:

    - Radio with a Christian radio station stays on 24/7 in my house.

    - Scripture posted in places that I spend the most time…including the shower (notecard in a ziploc bag sticks to the wall nicely…)

    - Start the day reading His Word or material to encourage spiritual growth.

    - Stay in contact with a close brother in Christ on a regular basis.

    Thanks for the thought! :)

    Chris,

I really appreciated the message this weekend. After a friend gave me your book my wife and I who were looking for a church decided to attend service at FPC. Our first Sunday was Oct. 11th in the middle of the Gro-up series. We have both enjoyed every Sunday and made it to the Home Invasion and Nov. First Wednesday service. It is truly a blessing to attend. We are currently looking to join a small group where we can further grow our faith. By the way I believe the devil is very real.

I think open discussion about the Bible or verses or a message is so healthy. A friend and I discuss regularly about what we’ve read recently, and it keeps in top of mind. Also, I took one of my Bibles to my office and leave it there right beside my computer screen. On my daily task list, I write “Bible” and it keeps me focused on what’s important. Since doing this, I have read more of my Bible in the past month than I did in the past year combined.

Pastor, SUPER message this weekend. One of the best points I think you brought up is that Satan loves when people downplay his power. How true. I keep thinking this as it seems like every single new primetime show or big screen movie is drenched with demonic activity and the world sees it as “cute” or “entertainment.” I have seen first-hand in my family the destruction that demonic influence brings. The best thing a believer can do is be alert and aware!!!

As for what I do, it is so important for me to spend time daily communing with God and also to read the Word daily. The Word is our ammunition. I am weakened without it. For my marriage, we pray together at least twice a day and read the Word together daily. Another thing I do is to address the enemy out loud- for example, telling a spirit of fear that its power is broken through Christ and quoting scriptures about fear.

Thanks for doing this series. I know I needed it. I can only imagine how FP and believers everywhere will catch fire when we say no to the enemy and choose to walk in victory! :)

So in effect this is a readers digest version of my days. FREEDOM means to me TRUTH>TRUTH>MORE TRUTH. The Word,Jesus, in Spirit and Truth. Yes, I also wear the full Armour of God; as it is interwoven in these scriptures as well as the whole of scripture.
As for my family I PRAY!!!! Teaching them as best as I am able. But mostly I rely on PRAYER.
Looking to Jesus is for me the only way I know to put the devil where he belongs….away from my focus.
