Technology and the 21st Century – iCampus

internet church, technology 7 Comments

Hey Friends,

It is Sunday afternoon as I write this and it is the first weekend we have had to cancel our services due to snow. This weekend has been a huge learning time for me! I would call it a revelation and huge inspiration. I have had several “firsts” this weekend. I have been on our iCampus for five services with one more to go tonight. It is also my first time for a chat room. I LOVED IT!

I have a new-found respect for our Pastor of Communications, Kyle Gilbert. But, even more than that, I am fired up about the massive potential impact for the Kingdom of God using technology. What would Paul have been able to accomplish if he had the Internet? If we are going to truly impact the 21st century and a new, tech-savvy young generation, it is an essential requirement. FPC, we will march off the map for Jesus using everything at our disposal.

The porn industry has used tech long enough. It is time to use what the devil meant for defeat for good and the glory of God.

As I read the comments in the chat room and watched many people get prayed with, I became a believer in the iCampus. I am going to pray that our church becomes more tech-savvy with facebook, twitter, e-mail, and other social networking aids. It is time to reach souls world wide on the web. I’ll bet we had over 2,000 worshippers with us on the web. Just think what can happen if we look to the Lord to use us with tech!

Faith Promise has been known for change and this will be just one more change on the road to exalting Christ. It is my prayer for us that we will pull out all the stops to reach more souls for the Savior. Just think…

Together, we can make a difference!

Pastor Chris

We enjoyed being a part of ICampus this weekend. I love it when Pastors get to see first hand how their staff ministers daily! You are doing a great job impacting the world.

It was awesome to sit with the family on the couch yesterday morning and watch the service on TV. We hooked the laptop to the tv so it was easier for everyone to enjoy. This has been very nice when someone is sick and we can’t make it (Which with 4 kids sometimes I wonder if there is ever going to be a weekend when everyone is well). I do have one suggestion, and that is something for the kids. I would love to have church with the kids at home when we can’t make it out. Is there a way that someone from the children’s ministry could just post what the kids are learning that weekend, maybe a story along with craft ideas. Kind of a map for parents to go by when we are home sick. I have thought about that before and that would be so awesome.

I have to second Pastor in that technology (although I do have reservations) can be used mightily for the glory of the Lord especially when Jesus uses it. I, in interest of transparency and the power of testimony (which I read today as listed by Derick Prince as one of our spiritual weapons) want to say that since Dec. 2 of this year, had my world rocked as violently as it could be by the enemy of our souls. I stopped pusuing ministry and the blessed LOVE of the Body of Christ.

I couldn’t see hope or faith much less love. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t there it just means I couldn’t see it. Thanks be to God that He is not regulated to what ails us lowly humans. Hee Hee it is good to smile again!!!

Anyway, Reaching out for what God provides is FREEDOM from torture, despair and hoplessness.

God provided deliverance via i-campus this weekend for me and I pray and am convinced for others too that are overwhelmed in this journey we call life. God Bless Kyle Gilbert and his Beautiful Family, as mightly as is God, is known to do. In the true meaning of Psalms 103:21.

Pastor thank you for trusting Jesus in all your decisions for the people who are ordained to do the Ministry of our God.

And above all I give all praise to our God who loves us with a love that passes all understanding!!!!!!!!!!!

You are so right. We are not going to reach a new generation for Christ if we do not keep up with technology. I have seen God work through my Facebook page in multiple circumstances. I now pray over it! Thank you to Kyle and his team for the forward thinking!

personally I am a HUGE fan of the i-campus. I have 2 babies and this time of year we are very luck if all 4 of us are acutlly healthy so that we can make it to church. Thanks to this wonderful tool we have been able to join you every week regardless of who is sick. As you mentioned this week it is also nice to “try” and praise with my 2 year old ( her attention span isn’t quite there yet! :) ) Thank you so much for trusting God as you have started this new ministry!
