Power for the People

Uncategorized 5 Comments

Hey Friends,

Where is the power promised to us by our Lord? He told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they had been filled with power for the tasks He had given them and us. We hear about demons deliverance and miracles in Africa, but what about us and what about here?  Let’s get real; look around, shouldn’t the Church have more power? Shouldn’t saints have the power to overcome in this present age? Well, the Bible says we should. So what’s the problem? Have you ever wondered what the problem is?

Being in the ministry for over 25 years and watching so many fall prey to the enemy, I ask the question often. I think the Bible and our Lord has an answer. I think we are sorely distracted in our day to day lives. Instead of experiencing God daily, hourly, minutely (I know, I know, this is a Chrisism) we are focused on us, our problems, and our circumstances. It says in Heb. 12:1 to “fix our eyes on Jesus.” Jesus said he would be with us always.” He also said the Holy Spirit would be in us and with us. So the question is, are you under the influence of the Holy Spirit right now? We are commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit, are you? This is the key and the critical element of our experiencing God 24/7. Where is your focus?

It is time for us to call out and cry out to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Are you hungry? Are you desperate? What are we waiting for? Especially as leaders, we need God even more today than ever before. I don’t know about you but I am DESPERATE for God and all He has for me and us. As leaders in the Church of Jesus, people are looking to us for direction and inspiration. Leaders need His help more than anyone else.

Just a thought.

Yours to count on.

Pastor

P.S. Love to hear your heart.

    I feel that this is so true. I find myself worrying about my schedule often instead of getting on Gods. We all need to stop penciling God into our lives. Just think if Jesus felt that he couldn’t fit the sacrifice in his schedule. Where would we be?

    PC, Recently, I’ve had the privilege and the blessing of watching a miracle unfold before me. There is absolutely no question in my mind that the hands of God has performed this miracle. It has so restored my faith and has left me with a deep desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to have a personal relationship with God. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me. Thanks PC for all you do.

  3. @ Sean thanks yoiur so right.
    @ Ryan thanks I know you’ve watched God do so much.

    What is the problem? Great question I have faced…

    Years ago when I was first failing at developing a ‘working’ relationship with the Holy Spirit in my life, I considered the following…

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit or me;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit does not want to move or I do not want it to move;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirt is timid about moving or I am timid about it moving in me;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit does not know how to move or I do not how to let it move in me;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit is not trying to move or I am stopping it from moving;

    The problem has to be the Holy Spirit is not present or me or I do not recognize the Holy Spirit;

    The problem has to be the Holy Spirit is not forcing me to move in the spirit or I am not stepping out in faith and responding to promptings to move in the spirit;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit is afraid I will fail in moving with it or I am afraid of failing in moving in the spirit;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit will be embarassed by my actions or I will be embarassed by the Holy Spirit;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit may be outcast for moving in me or I am afraid of being outcast by family, friends, co workers or other church members etc. for moving in the spirit;

    The problem has to be either the Holy Spirit is hiding it purpose and uses from me or I have not yet learned the purpose and uses of the Holy Spirit;

    The one thing I learned for sure is the problem is not the Holy Spirit.

    Pastor Chris,

    I love your insight. I have experienced a life-changing filling of the Holy Spirit in the last 4 years and it has literally transformed my life from the inside out. I really would describe it as intoxication!

    One thing that got me to move from going through the motions to a vibrant, active walk with God was an analogy I heard once. As Christians, we claim that God is our Father and best friend. What close friend or relative do you have whom you approach only for requests or whom you only converse with occasionally? To realize God is really “closer than a brother” means He is with me always. I can talk to Him in the car, at work, etc. I talk to Him as my confidant and advocate.

    Secondly, it has been my experience that the amount of my hunger for the Spirit (and I assume this is common to other believers) is directly related to my belief in God. Strongholds are rooted in lack of belief that God is trustworthy and will remain true to His word. If, therefore, I do not belief God is truly my advocate and friend, I cannot let Him in. The more I believe Him, the closer I get. The closer I get, the hungrier I get for His Spirit.

    The first message was great. The list you gave of qualities of drunks has given me a lot to think about and grow from.
