Marching Off the Map

New Year, plan 5 Comments

Hey Friends,

As ‘09 quickly becomes history and we march into ‘10, we know not what it holds for each of us.  So how do we plan for an uncertain and questionable future? EASY! We plan to grow and get closer to Christ. This will require making a plan. For over 20 years I have developed a personal growth plan for the upcoming year. I can’t control my circumstances or anything that happens around me, but I can control what happens in me. For me, that means being filled with the Holy Spirit and pursuing God with every fiber of my being.

If I, or we, are going to accomplish this we MUST have a plan. I beg, encourage, challenge, exhort, and pray that you will develop a plan so you can dive into the disciplines that bring us all closer to our Lord. Many call this legalism, but that is a lie laid out by Lucifer to keep us away from the path to personal growth and godliness. Come on, get moving and make your plan!

“But, what if I make a plan and fail?” I have NEVER completed every aspect of my personal growth plan. NEVER! Does that mean I failed or I am a failure? NO WAY! It means that through the disciplines I have grown closer and nearer to my Lord. So, no matter the situation or circumstances I can have a great year because joy and peace are an inside job.

Are you armed and ready for this new year with a plan? I am and I am fired up about it. As I march off the map, I am convinced that it will be a great year no matter what the world puts out.

Praying for you!

Pastor

Greetings Pastor and Brother in Christ,

Good one! I pray that all who reads today message does follow thur with a Spirital Plan for their life journey of 2010 for it does help to keep us strong in good and tring life trails. I know it has for me. And your tolally correct it’s not a plan written in stone. So what ever we get done or redue during the year doesn’t mean we’ve failed and God is pleased no matter what as long as we are in relationship with our Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and teach us.
    Shalom, joy and much LOVE!

  2. Chris, I’m sharing this very thing Saturday night at Zoe. It’s First Saturday, one of our monthly “come and see” outreach events. Each Monday we have a group, a preaching point if you will, at Starbucks downtown. Last night we had 13. We use it as a type of Sunday School. College students ain’t gonna come to no Sunday School class, but they’ll come for coffee and conversation after work at Starbucks. Anyway, we always throw out a question and talk about it. Last night we talked about how our relationship with Christ can grow and how we can avoid pitfalls. What you blogged today goes right in line. Thanks, dawg!

    Pastor,

Thank you for being such a great leader. I am sure you have a hard time accepting this compliment but I am so thankful for your leadership as my Pastor. My wife and I have been working on our Personal Growth Plans for 2010 and are excited about the focus and clarity it gives us in our chaotic lives. I am planning on helping my six year old daughter develop one for herself as well. I am reminded of Proverbs 21:31 that says, “The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.” I believe this verse reflects the idea that we have a responsibility as believer to plan out our lives (battles), but our ultimate trust for victory is in God, not in our plan. Keep leading us onto victory General Stephens!
