Good stuff Chris...so much has changed as the church as evolved and struggled to fit into a world we truly aren't supposed to fit in. I am thankful for your passion to be a true Christ Follower!! I hope our paths continue to cross through the years. Forgotten God by Francis Chan is an interesting read concerning the Holy Spirit.

My focus is believing God when He shows me and deciding with commitment to be blind to all else but Him. The reason for that is if I look down and see that I am standing on water, I will sink. So if I am going to ask Jesus to follow Him and come to Him and He gives me permission and I falter(James 1:5-8); then why ask in the first place? I guess by realizing that, it exposes my heart whether or not it is for Love of God or love of glory for myself in whatever I set my hand or foot to do.
Which leads me to: James chapter four with verse eight beind the necessity.

The church or bride whichever you prefer, is a whole made up of individuals and within those individuals are diverse areas. How well that individual submits those diversities to God, is how effectively God will influence the whole with the one...believing...we each have a part to fulfill, these are three of my areas and the focus for each.
1]Personal= Pursuance of excellance in obediance to Jesus' Victory.
2]Intimate circle= Hope to display thoroughly, integral trustworthiness in Spirit and Truth, for those relationships in which is found communion.
3]The Bride worldwide= I seek to be given Wisdom to speak Words and prayers that bless and not hinder or curse the unity we are to have in Christ. Also for adherance for all individuals to the Word of God, in Spirit and Truth as it pertains to the whole.

Basically my hearts cry is for God to stop the dissention and division. And in Him is all power.

Awesome, awesome. I have said it and seen it firsthand that the church body can often get caught up in method vs. material. To get caught up in method or delivery more than what is being taught is an open door for Satan to walk directly into our church. It's not our church or our music or our choir or our pew or our chair. It's God's.

Doesn't where your focus should lie where God has told you to look? I manage a bunch of projects but each one has to have a vision, a place that it needs to go and a goal to reach. I can't focus on someone else's vision.

For church leaders, the analogous thought has to be - What has God commissioned me to do? Paul was sent as a messenger to the Gentiles. He wasn't given the command to focus on Gentiles.

SO, the BIG question for the spiritual leader (and any of God's people) is the same question Paul asked Jesus on the Damascus Road - What do you want me to do Lord?
