The Leader’s Load

Burdens, Partners 8 Comments

Hey Friends,

If you are a leader at any level you know the load you carry. Most of us believe no one knows the burden or load we have. I have felt like this on so many occasions. I am sure this is not the way our Lord wants us to feel. “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” I wonder who said that? We all know.

I am sure that Lucifer wants us to feel the load and feel it alone. This is so contrary to the teachings of Christ. By the way, He made the rules – not the devil.  The devil is the father of lies and of deceit. Jesus said the devil was here to “kill, steal and destroy.” He is very good at his job. He wants you to feel overwhelmed and alone, inadequate and defeated. Why? Speed of the leader – speed of the pack.

If the enemy can slow you down he slows the church, or small group, or whatever you are leading. Satan can stall the saints by stalling the leaders. How are you? Are you alone? Jesus said that He ”would never leave you or forsake you.” Do we still believe His words? Of course we do! Our emotions are the easiest door for the devil to enter. Feelings are as fickle as the wind! They can not be trusted. We can trust Jesus. You are not alone and He is with you. If you will allow Him, He will bring partners into your life to walk with you and help you carry the load.

He did it for Moses through his father-in law, Jethro. He did it for me with our Executive Pastor, Josh Whitehead. He carries the load with me, as do so many other staff members at FPC.  Who is with you? Look around –  you are not alone.

Here for you,

Pastor

So, Why Do I Care?

Hey Friends,

Have you ever wondered why you care about certain things? I watch many people in the church who have many different passions. Each thinks the burden they carry is the most important issue facing the church today. Many have looked at me with wide-eyed disbelief when they realized that I didn’t care about their passion to the level that they did. To be sure, their issues were of great importance to the Lord and to His Kingdom, they just were not my top priority. We all have them, so why are they different?

I think the Lord uses our burden to direct us and to motivate us. Often I have asked the question of why it bothers me that so many churches are not growing? Over 90% of all churches in America are not growing and that causes me to lose sleep. The church I pastor is growing; shouldn’t that be enough? Why does the topic stay on my mind? What is the Lord trying to do in me, or with me?

I look at the state of the saints in America and say, “Somebody should do something!” But, who am I? Why would the Lord use me? There are others that are better qualified and more gifted than me and yet they are not bothered by the situation like I am. I remember once asking John Yarbrough why no one was screaming at the S.B.C. about the dire state of the churches. He  said, “No one cares.” How sad and horrible!

Well, I am going to try to make a difference. That is why God saved me and why He placed the burden on my heart. The starting of KALEO is to care for, resource, and encourage the CALLED. Please pray for me as I seek God’s leading in following the burden the He has given me.

What burden has HE placed in you? What difference does He want to make with you? If He will use me, then He will also use you! No difference – just a different burden. God saved you for a reason and He has a purpose for you. Where is your heart leading you?

Yours to count on,

Pastor

My Burden!

Hey Gang,

As Christ-followers we all have burdens. Some are brief and some last for a lifetime.  My burden for the Church is a lifetime deal. I love the two churches I have served as Senior Pastor.  God has placed me in a very unique place. Being the pastor of two church plants and seeing the mighty hand of the Lord move, He has taught me some great lessons.  I have a burden to help the Church become all it can be.  I want to help raise up leaders for the Church and wake up the sleeping giant (The Church) in America.

I have wrestled with the Lord about this for years. I have waited for a door to open and it has not. So I believe He wants me to make one. I am not leaving Faith Promise – don’t worry or wonder. I am going to build a team of leaders to do some conferences and produce some resources and training to help churches and leaders become all they can be.

Watching two churches (the first went form 25 to over 500 in attendance and the second from 250 to over 3000 in average attendance) gives me a different vantage point to see how God moves. I want to help. Pray for me and Roy McKinnon as we build this team and look for revival to break out in churches all over America.

Big deal? Not for God! Remember so many ministers and leaders feel like they are doing it all by themselves. We can walk beside them and lift up their hands and be there for them. I think the Lord is in it - would you pray for us and help? How can you help? So glad you asked!
