Thanksgiving, a holiday or a way of life??? We all know that Thanksgiving is a national holiday, but for Christ-followers, it should be so much more. For people of faith, every day really is thanksgiving, or so the Word lays it out for us. The Bible says, ”Enter His gates with thanksgiving….” It also says: “in everything give thanks….” The scriptures are full of commands, admonitions and encouragement to live with an attitude of gratitude. God knows that if we are grateful, we are much happier people. I fully believe gratitude it is a state of mind and not just circumstantial. Many today mistakenly believe they would be happy, or at least thankful, if life got better. For most, “better” it is relative term. We have the potential to choose to be grateful and live with a deep joy. Don’t misunderstand me, I love the Thanksgiving holiday. Fried turkey with all the trimmings, family and friends and a day of rest and reflection; doesn’t get any better than that.
My prayer for you is two-fold. One is that you would have a great holiday and two is that you would walk in an attitude of gratitude. This Thanksgiving you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Have a blessed holiday.
Love,
Pastor Chris
